Sunday Sermons
At Cornerstone, the sermons are primarily expository in nature. We spend most of our time stepping through a section or book of the Bible verse by verse, section by section, and occasionally we will preach on a theme. The elders strive to make each sermon a Christ centered, church building, Gospel proclaiming, truth driven, biblically grounded, proclamation for the purpose of God glorifying transformation.
Today we look at [esvignore]Matthew 1:18-25[/esvignore], a storehouse of core doctrine and an encouraging passage about the birth of Jesus. Here we will encounter the unique purpose of the virgin birth, the power of our Lord’s name, and the mystery of the union of Christ’s two natures. It may seem unusual to many of us, speaking of the incarnation in the middle…
Our message will cover [esvignore]Matthew 1:1-17[/esvignore], a beautiful bit of scripture, because of the wisdom of Matthew to begin with a distinctly royal lineage. Even from a list, we find great hope that heaven is not barred to us Gentiles and sinners, for our Lord is not ashamed to find in His descendants tainted blood and sinful people. When the gospel can…
Technical Note: The first 10 minutes of the message were not recorded, however, the bulk of the message is present. Please enjoy! Here is our introductory message on the Gospel of Matthew that sets up the context through which we will look at this gospel. We begin the series with the last verses of the gospel, [esvignore]Matthew 28:16-20[/esvignore]. We will make it…
Our sermon is entitled “Hospitality As An Expression of Love” and we will be launching from [esvignore]1 John 3:15-18[/esvignore]. I hope to show how it is a vital part of the Christian life, necessary for a vibrant community, and a command from God. I do not wish to lay burdens on people, which is what these kinds of sermons can sometimes be…
This Lord’s Day, we will deal with the topic of assurance of salvation. We will answer these five common doubts that Christians experience. Launching from [esvignore]1 Corinthians 2:12[/esvignore], we will cover several other passages as well. This is designed for believers who have doubts, and I pray that it will help you or help your children. Here are the five doubts we…
Our sermon continues the series of topical sermons that offer practical Christian living wisdom from the Word. This week’s message is a follow up on last week’s message on Discouragement. Our launch verse comes from [esvignore]John 17:20-23[/esvignore], but we will reference a large number of other verses as well. In this message, designed to encourage us and equip us, we will ask…
We continue our topical message series with a sermon entitled Dealing with Discouragement: Our Weakness is Better than Power. We will launch from [esvignore]2 Corinthians 11:30[/esvignore], but like last week, we will bring in many scriptures. This message is designed to encourage us and set our eyes on what is proper and good instead of every other ideal thing we see in…
We begin a series of topical sermons chosen to stir us up to conviction and greater faith. This first one deals with a topic that is important because it is so often neglected by believers who are, in general well intentioned but not well exercised in living consistently with our calling. Our sermon is entitled Why You Should Care About the Sufficiency of…
Our sermon is the last of our Samuel series. We’ve now had 46 sermons in I Samuel, 35 sermons in II Samuel. Apart from our 8 week study of Titus in between, we’ve been in Samuel for over two years. At long last we come to the end. The message is entitled “Let Us Fall Into the Hand of the Lord” and…
This week’s message is our second to the last message in our study of the book of [esvignore]2nd Samuel[/esvignore]. It was originally entitled Heroes and Legacies but it may better be called What’s In a Name? It comes from [esvignore]2 Samuel 23:8-39[/esvignore] where there is a long list of hard-to-pronounce names. In this list of names we find great conviction, if we are careful…
