Sunday Sermons
At Cornerstone, the sermons are primarily expository in nature. We spend most of our time stepping through a section or book of the Bible verse by verse, section by section, and occasionally we will preach on a theme. The elders strive to make each sermon a Christ centered, church building, Gospel proclaiming, truth driven, biblically grounded, proclamation for the purpose of God glorifying transformation.
In [esvignore]Matthew 13:53-58[/esvignore], we discover that Jesus is rejected, not merely by the religious leaders of his day, but by his home town. They couldn’t believe that Jesus was who He said, after all, he was the carpenter’s son they all knew since he was a kid. Bu that unbelief had an effect. It limited the Lord’s work in their midst. This…
Our message is from the Gospel of Matthew. It is entitled “How Much is Jesus Worth?” and comes from [esvignore]Matthew 13:44-52[/esvignore]. In this message, we hear some more parables, but this time there is a single line or warning that will form a very fiery image in our minds of Hell. I will dwell on that for a while. Hell is not…
Our lesson is entitled “Weeds, Mustard and Leaven.” I will link these parables together and with our parable of the sower from last week, they form a cohesive and themed unit. This means the theme might not be exactly what we have all learned over the years. I think you will see the text must govern our interpretation, and that will lead…
Today we enter a new section of Matthew’s gospel. We will study “The Sower and the Seed” from [esvignore]Matthew 13:1-23[/esvignore]. We will find that the seed is always the same Word of God that goes out from the Lord, but the condition of the soil on which is falls is the variable that matters. Public reading: [esvignore]Isaiah 6:8-13[/esvignore]; Benediction: [esvignore]Psalm 5:11[/esvignore] Matthew…
Our message is again from the Gospel of Matthew. It covers [esvignore]Matthew 12:38-50[/esvignore]. We will learn what the Sign of Jonah is, we’ll challenge convention about the day of the crucifixion, and we will see that Jesus isn’t just speaking lightly about commitment to Him. If you are a skeptic, Jesus tells you that you have no right to be. Our outline…
Our message is a continuation of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, it is entitled, “Dissecting the Heart of Man” from [esvignore]Matthew 12:33-37[/esvignore]. In this message, we will look at what the inward man is like – are we spirit? Soul? Spirit and soul? And how does it all relate to the body? How do we know? Jesus teaches us very…
Our message is from the Gospel of Matthew and entitled “No Neutral Ground” It will cover [esvignore]Matthew 12:22-32[/esvignore]. ***Audio is acceptable, but improves after the first 5 minutes*** Today we will examine how Jesus demonstrates right exegesis that leads to freedom and joy in Christ, as opposed to legalistic interpretation, which is a device of the devil. We will spend our application section identifying legalism. We’ll cover [esvignore]Matthew 12:1-14[/esvignore]. Here is a foretaste: Sabbath Keeping – Rest or Burden? Jesus’…
We examine Jesus’ prophetic declarations of judgment upon those cities which ignored his mighty deeds, and draw from the text several very pertinent truths. The Duty to Repent Degrees of Punishment The Wise Ones Listen…
