Sunday Sermons
At Cornerstone, the sermons are primarily expository in nature. We spend most of our time stepping through a section or book of the Bible verse by verse, section by section, and occasionally we will preach on a theme. The elders strive to make each sermon a Christ centered, church building, Gospel proclaiming, truth driven, biblically grounded, proclamation for the purpose of God glorifying transformation.
[esvignore]John 14:1-3[/esvignore] – Jesus encourages his troubled disciples as he continues in what many consider his ‘farewell address’. What we learn is that it is merely a brief farewell, for we have a home with Christ for eternity and His words are the comforts of His people in times to trial. John 14:1-3
[esvignore]John 13:1-20[/esvignore] – We look again at the example Jesus has given us by washing the disciples’ feet. Having learned about the greatest meaning of this living parable last week, now we look at how we ought to go and be doers of the Word. John 13:1-20
[esvignore]John 13:1-11[/esvignore] – The disciples were shocked that Jesus would stoop so low to wash their feet, but Jesus said it was necessary. Look with us as we uncover the depth of this living parable and learn what it means to trust the sin bearer who took our shame. (NOTE: Audio quality is very bad due to technical challenges, but the sermon…
[esvignore]John 12:27-50[/esvignore] – Here we come to the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, prior to his crucifixion. In his final words to the world he came to save, he tells us the purpose for which he came. That purpose is for God’s name to be glorified. John 12:27-28 The bulk of the sermon will dwell on how God receives glory to his…
[esvignore]John 12:20-26 – Here in John 12, against the backdrop of this historical drama which has played out over time, the anticipation of the Messiah ought to be palpable. There ought to be a buzz in the air. Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman foretold from the beginning of history is here. He has come to God’s people. He is the…
[esvignore]Acts 6:1-7[/esvignore] – Where does a Christian church find it’s vision and purpose? Does it come from the visions and dreams of their pastors? Does it come from the popular authors of the day? Do we receive it from marketing consultants? Community surveys? Church tradition? Does that purpose change with the times? And secondly, how is a church to fulfill that vision…
[esvignore]2 Corinthians 6:14-15; Matthew 28:18-20; Genesis 1:28[/esvignore] – In this topical sermon we look at the family’s role in the grand, culture-changing themes of making disciples and taking dominion. In the Bible, the first institution established by God was the family, and to that small group of people God gave a critical mission. If we are to be faithful family men and…
[esvignore]John 10:22-30[/esvignore] – One of the most compelling and clear areas in scripture where the doctrine of predestination is taught is the Gospel of John. Jesus demonstrates that belief in Him is tied to belonging to Hm from eternity past. In this sermon, we first look at the context which calls our attention to national Judaism, the antithesis of the gospel. Against…
[esvignore]John 10:1-21[/esvignore] – In contrast to the Pharisees who have not fulfilled their role as shepherds for the Jews, Jesus declares himself to be the true shepherd who calls his sheep, saves them to abundant life, and seals all of this with his blood. As one of his sheep, you can follow the Authentic Shepherd through his voice in the Bible, the…
[esvignore]John 9:13-41[/esvignore] – We revisit the blind man who was healed by Jesus and consider the response to Christ’s work. In this second of two parts, we discover that the truth about Jesus presses men to react and forces a confrontation with truth. At such a turning point, there is only belief and unbelief. We look at the Pharisees and their domineering…
