The Good Grace of Discipline

As we come to the half way point in the book of Jonah, we continue to find convicting lessons. In this sermon, we examine first the idea of types and antitypes in the Old Testament. Far from a dry academic discussion, we learn the good reason why God paints such beautiful pictures. In the second half of our sermon, we encounter some challenging truths about the Lord’s use of discipline to bear good fruit in our lives. What is the role of God’s discipline? How do we receive it? How should we view the one who confronts us? Listen and see how Jonah’s story has much to say about these topics. This is perhaps one of the most important lessons all Christians need to learn if we hope for the Christian community to function the way Christ intends.

This sermon draws from the following three passages:
Jonah 3:1-3
Luke 11:29-32
Psalm 51
