Sunday Sermons
At Cornerstone, the sermons are primarily expository in nature. We spend most of our time stepping through a section or book of the Bible verse by verse, section by section, and occasionally we will preach on a theme. The elders strive to make each sermon a Christ centered, church building, Gospel proclaiming, truth driven, biblically grounded, proclamation for the purpose of God glorifying transformation.
In our second look at our societal responsibilities with regard to being wise, we examine [esvignore]Proverbs 6:12-19[/esvignore]. Here we learn about the seven abominations that God hates, and we look at them from man’s point of view and, more importantly, God’s point of view. Join us as we learn about the “worthless fellow” and receive dire warnings from the Lord about pursuing…
In this sermon, we open up [esvignore]Proverbs 6:1-11[/esvignore]. Here we learn some important lessons for those who would be contributing members of God’s society on earth, the church. We are to be men and women of character, and this includes how we deal with our friends financially, how we deal with money in general, and our work ethic. Our sermon includes a…
Our study of [esvignore]Proverbs[/esvignore] brings us to the topic of marital fidelity. In this sermon from [esvignore]Proverbs…
This Sunday we heard a gospel plea from the pages of [esvignore]Ephesians 2:1-3[/esvignore] and from [esvignore]1 John 2:28-3:5[/esvignore]. Pastor Head examines eight characteristics of the children of wrath, and eight characteristics of the children of God. In this sermon, we speak frankly about Hell, sin and the dangerous plight of all who are ‘children of wrath’. This is a gospel message and…
Adultery is a killer. It has destroyed many very strong men and women. God’s Word speaks of adultery in many various and powerful terms and even uses the language to describe general covenant-breaking and idolatry. [esvignore]Proverbs[/esvignore] is filled with warnings against adultery because it is so dangerous and so common. As we continue our survey of the first nine chapters of [esvignore]Proverbs[/esvignore]…
In our study of [esvignore]Proverbs[/esvignore] we come to a great practical command in [esvignore]Proverbs 3:11-12[/esvignore]. But what does it look like to “not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof?” How do we live this out? In this sermon, we examine the idea that a reproof if God’s good medicine for us, and most likely, this medicine is delivered…
Continuing our study of [esvignore]Proverbs 1-9[/esvignore], we come to [esvignore]Proverbs 3[/esvignore]. In this sermon we cover [esvignore]Proverbs 3:1-10[/esvignore] with a focus on the need for a total, comprehensive faith and a whole-hearted devotion to the Lord’s wisdom. Proverbs 3:1-10
Wisdom calls out in the streets in [esvignore]Proverbs 1[/esvignore], but in the second chapter the father encourages the son to call out for wisdom, to seek it like treasure. In this sermon filled with illustrations from history and daily life, we learn that where there is conflict, men need a guide and a guardian to…
[esvignore]Proverbs 1:20-33[/esvignore] – In this text we are introduced to the Lady Wisdom and learn about her impassioned pleas to the people in her city. What are the implications of where she preached her message? What is the message? How do we respond? Proverbs 1:20-33
There is a war of ideas competing for our youth (and for anyone unaware). The two sides of this battle are presented to the son by the loving father in [esvignore]Proverbs 1:8-19[/esvignore] in an effort to stir up the son to embrace wise teaching and instruction. We investigate these two sides of a deadly battle…
