[esvignore]John 18:1-14 [/esvignore]- As Jesus begins his last hours before the crucifixion, His arrest teaches us many important lessons. Jesus went forward to confront His enemies – He was not caught by surprise. Instead, He went with resolve. He was in sovereign control at every moment and did nothing from a position of weakness. Though even His enemies drew back in fear upon encountering the Lord, Peter did not view the circumstance by faith. We learn that we, like Peter, are prone to evaluate the success of Christ’s plan for His people in light of what we see, rather than according to the promises of God. Here is an encouraging sermon that helps us see, by faith, that Christ is victorious.
