Have No Fellowship with the Deeds of Darkness, But Expose Them

As we examine [esvignore]Ephesians 5:11[/esvignore], we find a dual command – first have nothing to do with, or no fellowship with, the evil deeds of darkness. But second, we are to expose or illuminate those deeds. This is a continuing Pauline use of the excellent “light vs. darkness” illustration that helps us understand our role in a dark world. In this sermon we investigate how these two seemingly conflicting commands hold together. How do you avoid evil deeds while exposing them? We apply the commands, as a relevant example close to many of us, with regard to our children: How much exposure to the world do we allow our children, or how much should we shelter them? What is our role as disciplers to point our children toward the right path? We cannot shy away from talking about the world’s wickedness with our kids in light of the Bible. If we don’t do it, someone else will, and its a pretty sure thing that we won’t approve of that someone’s else’s worldview.

Join us as we seek the wisdom of the Word together.
