2nd Samuel – David’s Last Words

This week’s sermon is entitled “David’s Last Words,” and is from [esvignore]2 Samuel 23:1-7[/esvignore]. We have here David’s last proclamation, a royal pronouncement, and a prophecy from God’s own mouth. In it, we are reminded that there is a Covenant, a promise, that will come to pass regarding a son of David’s. This son will be the last King in the Davidic line, and his throne will endure forever. This is, of course, Jesus Christ, and with Him, we have hope for the future. The unbeliever has no such hope, he is excluded from the sure Kingdom. It will be a message of hope in our troubled times. We will have four divisions:

  1. The Kingdom of God is Sure
  2. The Kingdom of God Desirable
  3. The Kingdom of God is Exclusive
  4. The Kingdom of God is Our Hope
