Sunday Sermons
At Cornerstone, the sermons are primarily expository in nature. We spend most of our time stepping through a section or book of the Bible verse by verse, section by section, and occasionally we will preach on a theme. The elders strive to make each sermon a Christ centered, church building, Gospel proclaiming, truth driven, biblically grounded, proclamation for the purpose of God glorifying transformation.
[esvignore]John 9:1-12[/esvignore] – The story of the blind man who was healed is a powerful living parable that teaches us about the work of Christ is in response to our helpless condition. We look at this work in detail in part one of two sermons that will consider the sign Jesus worked, the response it provoked, and the greater implications for us…
[esvignore] Malachi 1:1-4:6[/esvignore] – The oracle of Malachi records the great apostasy in the land at the time of the close of the Old Testament canon. The nation of Israel, a physical people, disputes with the Lord and the Lord condemns their sin. Yet the true bride – a spiritual people and sinners in need of reformation – are offered hope because…
[esvignore]Psalm 51[/esvignore] – David’s fall is something worth avoiding. But David’s rise is something we should imitate. If David, a King, was not excluded from the reach of the law, the law delivered by Nathan the prophet, let us humble ourselves and hear the law from Christ our savior delivered by the scriptures. Don’t reject the hard words of admonition from God’s…
[esvignore]John 8:31-59[/esvignore] – Though the Jewish leadership and many of their followers considered themselves heirs of God and sons of Abraham, Jesus declared them to be slaves, not sons. The inheritance is for the true children of the Father, and true children abide in God’s Word. In this sermon we are challenged to live as those who are freemen and heirs; who…
[esvignore]John 8:12-30 – In our text today, Jesus teaches those in the temple that he is the light of the world. This is the second of the metaphorical “I am” statements in this gospel. In John 6 Jesus called himself the Bread of Life. That was the first. We will see 5 more before we finish this gospel account. These metaphors, and…
[esvignore]John 7:25-52[/esvignore] – Jesus faces the Jewish leaders at the Temple itself where the tension is at its height. Here we learn that oppressive tyranny and arrogance is a hallmark of unbelief, yet Jesus speaks the truth in the epicenter of this unbelief. Even here, some believe. We are challenged to go with Jesus into the fire with the Gospel. John 7:25-52
[esvignore] John 7:1-13[/esvignore] – As we follow the ministry of Jesus as reported by John the Evangelist, many have followed and now many have fallen away. Jesus’ own brothers demonstrate the hardness of heart found in men. In this sermon we look at the loneliness of Christ and of those who believe in Him, the depravity of man, and the hostility stirred…
[esvignore]Acts 2:42-47[/esvignore] – The early church was devoted to four very distinct but simple things: the Apostle’s teaching, fellowship, the Lord’s Table, and prayer. These are our foundations. As Cornerstone Christian Fellowship celebrates its first year anniversary, we look back to the first scripture preached in our fellowship to remember the things to which we should be devoted. How have we done,…
[esvignore]John 6 – John chapter 6 is a feast of biblical proportions. This sermon covers the main themes of the entire chapter, centering on three eternally important questions that Jesus appears to be answering. They are: Who is Jesus? What must I do to have eternal life? How is God sovereign over my salvation?[/esvignore] John 6
[esvignore]John 5:30-47[/esvignore] – Jesus is being confronted by the Jewish leaders who question His identity; His claims to divinity have stirred them to hostility. Using the legal standards of Law concerning witness and testimony, Jesus brings forth four witnesses to establish the truth of His identity. His case condemns unbelief and gives His people a solid assurance of faith. John 5:30-47
