Titus – Put Into Order

Our sermon this week is entitled “Put Into Order.” We focus on [esvignore]Titus 1:5[/esvignore]. What a change from the Samuel series where we often had to read pages of narrative and whole chapters in order to look at over-arching themes. In our text today, we are mostly drawing from one word in Greek, the term translated “put into order.” This kind of sermon is typical of our studies in the epistles. There is much here.

We will first speak about the many words for pastor. We will talk about the equality of pastoral authority but the diversity of roles. We will move into why elders are a required part of the local church and the consequences of going without. We’ll refute the idea that churches don’t need a pastor or officers. We’ll speak of the fact that God is a God of order and orderliness, and we’ll address why this is not only just relevant to you as a church member, but without question, it is vital to the church as a whole, on through the generations. Finally, we will ask “What is My Duty in the Orderly Church?” and catalog several ways you can participate in and support the pastoral ministry of a sound church.

Our public reading was [esvignore]Hebrews 13:7-19[/esvignore]; Benediction was taken from the very next verses, [esvignore]Hebrews 13:20-21[/esvignore]

Note – this is a “replacement sermon,” we had audio issues and the SUnday message did not get recorded. This is the same sermon, preached Monday morning. Enjoy!
