Our sermon is entitled “Hospitality As An Expression of Love” and we will be launching from [esvignore]1 John 3:15-18[/esvignore]. I hope to show how it is a vital part of the Christian life, necessary for a vibrant community, and a command from God. I do not wish to lay burdens on people, which is what these kinds of sermons can sometimes be perceived as doing. But I think there will be some creative ideas for us to consider. I hope to break us out of the picture we tend to hold on to about what hospitality is, and hopefully they will help us all be obedient to what is a Biblical command. We’ll consider the following outline items:
- Why We’re Talking About Hospitality
- The Basis of Hospitality
-
Hospitality is grounded in the Love of God and Love for Others
-
Hospitality is grounded in the Welfare of our neighbors.
-
Self denial
-
Compassion
-
-
Hospitality is grounded in Obedience to God.
-
Hospitality is grounded upon the Desire for God’s Glory.
-
- Practicing Hospitality
