Our message is a topical sermon, one that will take advantage of the theme of thankfulness to hear from God’s Word on the topic, as well as four testimonies of those who were thankful despite their trials. We will hear from Charles Spurgeon, Elizabeth Prentiss, Edward Payson, and the Pilgrims. Our passages will be Colossians 3:15-17 and Psalm 100:4-5. We will return to our expository study of Matthew next week. There will be one more topical sermon this year as we approach the season of Christ’s birth where we will marvel at the Word become flesh together from the scriptures, but most of December will be our ongoing study of Matthew.
Public reading: Psalm 107-1-9; Benediction: Colossians 3:15
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
