2nd Samuel – There Was a Long War

Our sermon is entitled There Was a Long War and is taken from [esvignore]2 Samuel 3:1-5[/esvignore]. In this message we will examine the frustration of living in a world where the Kingdom of God progresses at what seems to us to be a snail’s pace. All the while, evil seems so powerful and overwhelming. This passage also reminds us that as we live side by side among one another during the long battle of good versus evil, we too are yet not perfect and must learn to get along. The saints are yet sinners, and we must be long-suffering and forgiving with one another, since we are in a long battle together. Our sermon outline looks something like this:

  • Antithesis: Two houses opposed
  • Disloyal Rebels
  • Loyal Subjects
  • Reality Check – Messy Subjects
  • Living with Messy Subjects

The public reading was [esvignore]2 Peter 3[/esvignore].
